DPR Joins Losar Celebration at Nalanda West
for the Lunar New Year of the Earth Mouse, 2008-2009
On the morning of February 8th, from the imposing edifice of Nalanda West at the eastern borderlands of Fremont came a strange harbinger of auspicious good cheer, as Nalandabodhi students began to gather and sample freshly brewed Tibetan chang in preparation for the ascent to the shrine room.

Students of Khenpo Tsultrim Gyamtso Rinpoche and of the Dzochen Ponlop Rinpoche gathered in Seattle weeks before the turn of a new year to listen to the teachings on dependent arising and on the profound path of bliss-emptiness Mahamudra, as taught by Khenpo Rinpoche to Ponlop Rinpoche.

The Dzogchen Ponlop Rinpoche will chair a landmark translators' conference, "Translating the Words of the Buddha," at Deer Park, Bir, India, March 16 through 20, 2009. The event will be hosted by Dzongsar Khyentse Rinpoche, Khyentse Foundation, and Deer Park Institute. His Holiness the XIV Dalai Lama, His Holiness Sakya Trizin, His Holiness Mindroling Trichen, His Holiness the XVII Gyalwa Karmapa, Sogyal Rinpoche, Pema Wangyal Rinpoche, and Khyentse Jintgme Rinpoche have all given their blessings to the gathering as honorary patrons.

Rinpoche's book is as much about how to live than how to die or go beyond death. Rinpoche emphasized that we should be more concerned with how we live our lives in the NOW. By the time we are dying or dead it will be too late to compensate for lost time during our lives by relying on esoteric bardo practices.

Dzogchen Ponlop Rinpoche Offers Plenary Address
at Annual Meeting of the Association of Professional Chaplains
The audience included nearly 800 chaplains, a diverse group of professional spiritual caregivers, from around the United States. Rinpoche spoke on the topic of 'Facing Death - the Sacred Horizon,' which for many of the participants was their first introduction to a Buddhist perspective of death and dying.
